Design and Display
Hidden selfie cameras, slider mechanism, edge-to-edge notch-less screen and dual rear camera setup are components that dictate the same aesthetic as the standard 4G model. The ceramic back’s also planted on the back where it brings its Wireless Charging enablement to the scenery. Meanwhile, the colourations got trimmed down to Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black.
The phone is gifted with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for its display protection although that plays a role in its fresh appearance. Super AMOLED panel got incorporated into this piece as the display. Potent with 6.39 inches diagonal, the display comes with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution equating 403 ppi pixel density. The use of an OLED screen suggested an under display sensor, but Xiaomi still utilised the rear-mounted type.
Battery and Camera
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G offers more battery juice compared to its Mi Mix 3 sibling. That’s expected because 5G is understood to take more toll on the battery than 4G connection. Also, the 3,800mAh battery can charge rapidly due to Quick Charge 4+ in action.
Two cameras are positioned at the rear’s top left corner for credible photography. The first being a 12MP primary lens while the second being a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Using the sliding mechanism, the dual cameras hidden behind the phone’s screen surfaces to take AI-assisted photographs.
Hardware and Software
Unlike Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 855 chipset provides support for 5G network. Here, the X50 5G modem was the component used. Away from 5G standard, the chip ensures smooth performance and efficiency with help from 6GB RAM.
Internal storage variants of two exist – 64GB and 128GB. Following current Xiaomi flagship practices, no MicroSD card slot is present. MIUI 10 based on the Android 9.0 Pie OS runs on the smartphone.
