Nokia 5.1 Plus

HMD initially released the smartphone same way the Nokia X6 was released before the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Nokia X5 was released first in China and then the Nokia 5.1 Plus as an international version of the same smartphone was released. The catch here is that the new smartphone is part of the Android One program thereby ensuring it receives updates from Google directly. As you might have figured out, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is a more budget version of the Nokia 6.1 Plus but carries the same fundamental look.

Nokia 5.1 Plus

Design and Display

Both smartphones share the same outlook, talking about the Nokia 5.1 Plus and 6.1 Plus. Facing you is a notch with a large screen estate and bottom bezel with Nokia inscribed on it. On the other end, the dual camera is arranged in a similar manner as in the 6.1 Plus centrally at the upper part with an ideally placed fingerprint sensor under. Overall, the build appears to be solid and uniform covered with glass on both sides but has a plastic frame.

The screen is notched which is the first to get your attention as well as the thin bezels and the extent to which the screen covers the front porch. Although, it is nothing spectacular yet it does look quite beautiful still. Sporting a display size of 5.84-inch and a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels it is inferior to what you have on the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Battery and Camera

The capacity remains the same which is small but hopefully, with the low-resolution display, it’ll last a bit longer. Labelled with a 3, 060mAh capacity, the smartphone only has about an average usage time at best. On the upside, there is a USB Type-C port and fast charging available.

In the area of photography, the smartphone continues the trend of dual rear camera with a 13MP and 5MP camera duo. Dual camera or not, this is a significant downgrade from what you have on the Nokia 6.1 Plus including the 8MP camera featured by the smartphone.

Hardware and Software

For the Nokia 5.1 Plus, there is a change in chipset and not just that, it is now from a different tech company – MediaTek. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s new mid-range chipset, the Helio P60 which has been hyped to be quite a performer. You also get to work with the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU taking on graphics.

This is one of those smartphones that has two models varying in RAM and storage. For the Nokia 5.1 Plus, there is a 3GB RAM paired with 32GB internal storage option and another with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage space. Being an international version, it will have Android One inside.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 5.1 Plus will be sold in various online stores and smartphone retail centres for about 57, 000 Naira based on the deal you’re presented with and your location.

Nokia 6.1 Plus

Following the launch of the Nokia 6X in China, HMD has a follow up released in Hong Kong exactly the same except for slight differences I will mention later. You might be thinking, why this move from HMD, the thing is the Nokia 6X is made for China while the Nokia 6.1 Plus is more of an international model. What differentiates the two apart from the reason mention before is that the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be running Android One while the Nokia X6 won’t.

  • Dual 16MP + 5MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera
  • 4G LTE
  • Fingerprint sensor (rear)
  • 3, 060mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery

Nokia 6.1 Plus

Design and DIsplay

HMD Global made the new smartphone with a notch, joining the list of the ever-increasing notched smartphones. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has a rather smaller notch compared to the others with a good use of the space up front. Have it in mind that most smartphone makers are including a notch to increase the ground display covers which in this case serves its purpose. The rear has the dual camera and flash lined up toward the middle followed by the fingerprint reader beneath them.

The smartphone has a top notched screen as far as mid-range smartphones go and with minimal bezels hugging the screen. Also, there’s the notch which is smaller compared to the others and a bit of small chin too with Nokia written on it. A resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels grace the 5.8-inch screen and with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 reinforcement.

Battery and Camera

Smartphones like this one are not usually cut out for those long hours of use and the reason is their battery capacity is like in this case meagre. Considering how most people engage their phone nowadays, the 3, 060mAh here might not just be enough to the end of the day. Not to worry though, the phone comes with Quick Charge 3.0, a fast way of getting the battery juice back up.

Taking pictures primarily now involves a dual camera on the rear side and the Nokia 6.1 Plus happens to be on that side of the optics. The front camera is tied up at 16MP which is not a bad proposal at all considering you’ll get AI optimization and a nice portrait mode too. On the reverse, there are two cameras a 16MP main sensor and a 5MP secondary camera at the back.

Hardware and Software

There’s quite a solid setup in the Nokia 6.1 Plus made up of fairly powerful mid-range components. First is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor working hand in hand with an Adreno 509 GPU. To make things work smoothly, you’re provided with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage expandable to 400GB. The smartphone will ship with Android One meaning you’ll be getting updates and security patches from Google directly.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Pricing and Availability

The smartphone is on sale at different online stores and sales centre for just about 100, 000 Naira depending on your location and the deal.

5 Online Dating Apps Better than Tinder

Online Dating Apps Better than Tinder

If surfing Tinder has become a habit, but when the match finally happens you still remain lying on the couch – it’s time to change something. It isn’t necessary to completely abandon mobile dating applications, after all, they are already part of our life, like online shopping and food delivery. It’s worth paying attention to the services that will take care of the organization of a date and help you to avoid uneasy silence on the first acquaintance.

1. Hater:

This is a relatively new and original application. The developers have taken the principle of “from love to hate only one step, and back even less.” The idea is that the program looks for potential friends, not basing on what we love, but quite the contrary – on what we can’t stand.

In general, the basis for relations is no worse than any other: we all sometimes want to share with someone how we hate long traffic jams, melty ice cream or garden gnomes. Technically, the Hater isn’t much different from other applications: swipe down for hate, up for sympathy.

At the moment the program can offer about 2 thousand topics that can be hated. Among them are Donald Trump, marijuana, slow-moving people, a selfie of buttocks and much more.

“The more I thought about it, the more it seemed to me:” Hey, it’s a ridiculous idea, but it makes sense, “says comedian Brendan Alper, the author of the original idea. The symbol of the application is inverted heart.

2. Happn:

The creator of the application, the architectural critic Didier Rappaport, has been in the digital industry for more than ten years. He himself considers Happn his best project. The service uses hyper geolocation technologies.

This means that Happn shows you only those people that you have ever crossed: maybe you go to the same store outside of your home or flew to Bali in one plane, maybe you work together or buy sandwiches in one and the same coffee house. So you don’t need to make a date on purpose, just meet in a place you already know.

If you find someone who you like, click on the heart. To increase your chances of correspondence, you can send a user you like the so-called Charm – a sign of deep sympathy. This application is relevant primarily for residents of large cities. This is written by users in the comments: if you don’t live in a metropolis, it’s very difficult to find a loved one.

3. Badoo:

This is the largest dating network in the world, where every new user immediately indicates the purpose of his registration, whether it’s a simple communication or the desire to go out on a date. You can always see who of the users of the service remain nearby, and with whom you could previously have accidentally crossed in the city.

Badoo is notable for a quite user-friendly interface, video chat function and a unique mode for finding doubles. The latter allows you to find people looking like you, or, conversely, similar to those who you like. For example, your favorite celebrity.

4. MyLove:

This is a simple and understandable service for communicating with the opposite sex or for searching for a serious relationship. Users can access detailed profiles, search by geolocation, comments on photos and the opportunity to get acquainted without a profile photo, that is, almost anonymously.

In the application options, it’s possible to select the country of search if someone wants to communicate with those who are abroad. It’s a great opportunity to make a cross-border marriage, but firstly you should find out more about Christian girls dating. There are no paid subscriptions in the application, for real money you can only increase the popularity of your profile.

5. Pure:

The Pure project was created especially for sex-dating. This is a very laconic and extremely honest application that doesn’t flirt with users, but calls things as they are: “You’re attractive, he is insanely handsome, it’s time to get to know each other better.”

Enter your gender, the gender of the desired partner, upload your photo and wait until the system finds suitable options no further than 50 km from you. Advantages are: all users of the application are aware of why they need it, don’t have to register an account or log in through social networks.

Pure claims that it doesn’t store user data and the service is confidential. Maybe it’s true, but it’s always necessary to remember about your personal security. The first week of using the application is free, then you have to pay for a monthly subscription.

3 Must-know Things about Video Resolution of your Gadget

3 Must-know Things about Video Resolution of Your Gadget

The main parameter when choosing a smartphone for most users, and this is correct, is a screen. Not only is it the “face” of the device, it is also the main instrument for controlling your gadget.

Long gone are the times when such an option as a “color display”, automatically lifted the model to the top and put it among the flagships. Now a huge selection of screens of modern smartphones can easily satisfy even the most demanding user.

At the same time, in order to choose the most suitable variant it is necessary to get on very well with the abundance of technologies, terms, etc. Be sure to choose the screen you need taking into account its characteristics such as resolution, dimensions, diagonal, pixel density, production technology, type of touchscreen design. Let’s look closer at what is called “screen resolution” on the smartphone.

What is Smartphone Screen Resolution?

Most users can mistakenly believe that the most important thing when choosing a modern touchscreen smartphone is the screen size. Undoubtedly, the size of the display and its diagonal play not the least role, but it is important to pay attention to its resolution first of all.

The screen resolution of the smartphone is the maximum number of individual pixels (pixels) in width and height that can be displayed on display. It is one of the most important characteristics of a mobile device, since it shows the actual workspace on the phone screen.

In today’s era of technology, there is no reason to buy a smartphone with a resolution below 1280 x 720 px (pixels), because the screen is the most important part of the mobile device – it is what the user looks at most of all while using a gadget.

Why Do you Need it and What are the Functions of the Screen Resolution?

The quality of the picture on the screen depends on the resolution. The large size of a pic and small resolution will make the photo grainy and fragmented.

Inexpensive low-quality smartphones are equipped with low-resolution screens, where pixels are visible, which makes the picture blurry, and the font clumsy.

The higher the resolution is, the denser the pixels are, the image is sharper and smooth, and the screen holds more information. Full-HD displays are made from elements, thanks to which the pixels are utterly impossible to distinguish without special equipment, and the image turns out to be super clear.

Games and your favorite movie, even with a large screen, will not bring the proper pleasure if the display has a low resolution. But do not chase an ultra-high resolution, because it is almost impossible to catch the difference between just a high-quality and super high-quality image, but the price tag for such a smartphone will be much higher.

It is crucial that the resolution is not less than the recommended one. You will be strongly upset after the purchase of the device with a density of pixels less than you had in the previous model. You will need some time to get used to the imperfection, and may even have discomfort in the eyes.

If occasionally you bought a wrong gadget and can’t get a new one soon, you can make your experience a little bit better by preparing files for your device. A video that perfectly suits the resolution of your screen won’t cause any trouble to the eyes. Besides, a well-prepared video will occupy less space on your smartphone.

It’s essential since the majority of budget models don’t have much storage. That’s where you need free Freemake Video Converter. It will help you convert any video to MP4, a format compatible with all popular gadgets, with the settings that will suit your device best of all. See the guide of how to convert your source file to MP4 for free here: http://www.freemake.com/how_to/how_to_convert_mkv_to_avi_mp4

When your video is ready, you can either transfer it to your phone by using a USB cable or upload to a cloud drive (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.).

You will only need to install a cloud drive app on your phone to enjoy a video with a built-in video player. This option is great since you won’t lose your phone storage, but it requires a good Internet connection to enjoy the video without buffering.

Optimal Parameters of Screen Resolution

The modern market requires manufacturers to increase their pixel density and resolution on their devices. The rational need for all smartphones to have high screen parameters is a very controversial issue.

First, if we compare two screens of the same diagonal with a small difference in the resolution values, then the effect from using them, taking into account the comfort for the eyes, will be almost identical.

Although it is not excluded that the difference might be noted at the time of viewing any photos, videos, movies. Under ideal conditions, a user with 100% vision can distinguish a pixel density of up to 350 DPI, in reality, 250 DPI is more than enough.

Now, let’s talk more about the actual screen resolution of a smartphone:

240x320px. It is the minimum resolution that Android supports. It is installed in very cheap phones. Using the OS with such a display is continuous flour, so experts do not advise them to get familiar with Android; otherwise, disappointment from poor quality can turn you away from both the operating system and the sensor devices.

320x480px. This option is more or less acceptable for the smartphone. This screen resolution is found in budget models of phones with a diagonal, not more than 3.5 inches. It’s not popular because of the excessive graininess of the image. Such smartphones on the market are already extremely rare.

480x800px. This resolution compared to the above is already more comfortable to use. It’s also used in budget class smartphones. The optimal screen diagonal should not exceed 3.5-4 inches, because on larger displays there might appear a fragmented image.

540х960px. This screen resolution is suitable for smartphones of budget class with a diagonal of 3.5-5 inches. A phone with this resolution allows you to see a more comfortable and pleasing to the eye picture on your device.

720х1280px. It is one the most popular screen resolution today, used by manufacturers for the smartphones of the middle price category and even by TV manufacturers. It is mainly intended for phones with a diagonal of 4.5-5.5 inches. This is where the so-called HD-smartphones start. The resolution provides excellent image detail.

1080х1920px. This resolution is the highest level of Full-HD, the so-called “flagship.” It’s used for devices with a diagonal of 4.8-5 inches. Even if you use a screen with a diagonal of 7 inches, the picture will remain clear, and no grit will appear. There is an opinion that it is more appropriate to use such a resolution when the diagonal of the display higher than 6 inches. However, for the human eye, it is impossible to find differences between HD and Full HD. A large resolution will greatly affect the cost of the matrix of the screen and the whole device in general and will force it to consume more energy.

1440х2560px. 2K or QuadHD is a modern but not common resolution today. The tech-savvy users are confused by the apparent excess placed in a compact device, which does not even need a tablet with a diagonal of 7 inches. The increase in the density of the pixels placement to incredible heights is not so visible to the human eye, but it will be well felt by the battery and the speed of the smartphone.

CONCLUSION

The large screen size naturally assumes a large size of the entire smartphone. It makes it uncomfortable to store the gadget in small pockets and while using it with one hand. With a large display and a low resolution, the picture quality will suffer. If the display is small, and the resolution is high, all the details on the screen become shallow.

In today’s needs, the device with a diagonal within 4.5-5.0 inches and a resolution of 720х1280px, or with a diagonal of 4.7-5 inches with a resolution of 1080х1920px will be ideal when choosing a new smartphone of an average price category. These are the parameters that will be most acceptable for a comfortable level of work on the smartphone.

Why are white gaming keyboards more preferred?

Irrespective of the fact that you are into writing, programming or playing games on your PCs, a good keyboard is mandatory to meet your requirements at all aspects. While purchasing one, you must always take a look at its functionality so as to make sure that it will satisfy your needs on all grounds.

Have you been a crazy fan of gaming, a keyboard will definitely be the weapon to you! Different gamers place their own preferences; however, color seems to play a vital role in this context. A lot of people prefer to opt for a white keyboard for that makes things appear to be more clear and prominent.

Whatever be the color you pick, always make sure that it is sleek and responsive. White color looks absolutely stunning, and it is said to be one of the best colors to reset your mind focus while gaming.

White Gaming Keyboard

These days, I do not see a lot of people using white keyboards for the gaming industry seem to prefer peripheral dark colors like red, silver and black. So, you would easily be able to fetch a black colored keyboard, but if you are looking for a white color keyboard for gaming, it can be a little difficult for you to find one.

Well, a black keyboard is not that rare as that of a white colored one. However, a white keyboard goes absolutely awesome with your Mac or if you have a particular eye for that shade.

Talking about mechanical keyboards, a lot of them come in a black case, so finding them is pretty easy, but as not too many come in a white shade, you may truly have a tough time looking for it.

The white keyboard is definitely my personal favorite due to its sleek and minimalist outlook. It is definitely the best pick for an office environment. Also, you may find white keyboards with programmable backlit RGB keys which stand out to be one of the most selling varieties along the recent times.

The white keyboard is one of the best choices for people who prefer to go with light shades and milky white switches. The LED blue backlighting is another awesome feature that makes the white keyboards as the best choice.

A white keyboard that would match the color scheme of your system is a rare specimen. While looking for a white color keyboard for gaming, make sure that it stands to be one of the most viable options for you.

Definitely, as per my own experience, a white keyboard is a decent pick for a conflict-free gaming experience. I love to use white keyboards over any other colors for it comes with such an amazing design and its user-friendly outlook makes it one of the most in-demand gadgets for the gamers.

The color preference can make it a little expensive than the rest that is available, but certainly, it would be worth your expense!

There is also a striking similarity in he design to the Nova 3 and a the quad camera setup. The Huawei Nova 3i has everything a modern smartphone stands for in terms of design and other specs including AI integration. Why don’t you check out what the specs look like below?

Design and Display

The Huawei Nova 3i is definitely a winner when it comes to how it looks, it is a dashing smartphone with an impressive colourful finish for the iris purple colour model as well as other colour options like black and pearl white. It is enveloped by glass which as you know can be quite a dirt and fingerprint magnet. At the end of the day, it is still a similarly stunning Huawei Nova 3 look.

In the Nova tradition, the smartphone usually have a considerably large display and besides doesn’t most smarphones recently made have large display? On the Huawei Nova 3i, you get to enjoy 6.3-inch of high resolution display with a screen to body radio of 83%. You’re supplied with 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution which can be reduced to HD+ to save battery.

Battery and Camera

The smartphone sips juice from a 3, 340mAh battery and considering the power efficiency of the chipset it should do till the end of the day. However, the battery capacity is to be considered as nothing but average. In the sense that, a bit more strain on the battery will lead to the phone ending up dead before the end of the day.

The smartphone has extra cameras on both the front and back for what you call portrait pictures or technically depth sensing. Xiaomi Mi Max 3

Design and Display

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is all about being big and bold and if that is for you then you might want to put the smartphone on your radar. Besides the largeness, the smartphone has an appealing design and not just a big slab of tech on your hands. The bezels at the side are ever so thin with the top and bottom one too having their own fair of reduction. At the back of the phone, the cameras are arranged in an iPhone X manner while the fingerprint is towards the centre.

According to the naming of the smartphone, there is a max display right in front of the smartphone which is quite a sight to behold. Formed in the characteristical 18:9 way we’ve come to love, the phone is a few inches shy away from being a Tablet. For a 6.9-inch screen, the smartphone sports a 2160 x 1080 pixels giving you a 350 ppi pixel density.

Battery and Camera

I suppose it is only proper for a device of this size to have a similarly large battery powering it. If you belong to this school of thought, you might not find the battery being so big. Nonetheless, the battery has an ample capacity of 5, 500mAh one that charge to 71% from 0% in just an hour thanks to Quick Charge 2.0.

Taking pictures with the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 should be a quite pleasant experience with the dual camera on the rear side and an AI beautification tech on the selfie end. There is a combination of a 12MP camera with /1.9 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor on the rear and an 8MP f/2.0 aperture 8MP camera up front.

Hardware and Software

Ready to take your bidding on the inside is a mid-range chipset that has proven itself in a list of other smartphones. Speaking of a Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 processor with eight cores and an Adreno 509 GPU manning graphics. To make operations smoother, there is a 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage space and a lesser variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in space. Like its predecessor, it has Android One version of Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pricing and Availability

The smartphone will be sold in retail outlets and online store for around 105, 000 Naira depending on your location and the deal.

Projector buying guide

For the many things projectors have the capability of doing, the demand for the gadget is on the increase. However, picking up one, especially as a newbie, isn’t entirely a stroll in the park. All the technical terms and jargon, the different types, sizes, models, features, and more are important factors to put into consideration before purchasing a projector that will effectively serve its purpose.

Projector buying guide

So, if you are in the market for a projector for presentation slides in your office, classroom, boardrooms, auditorium, or to watch movies in a cinema-like experience in your home, proceed to read guide for important criterion to look out for in a projector before buying one.

Projector Buying Guide 2018

1. Purpose

Big question: “What do you intend to display with the projector?” Answer this question correctly and you are halfway through buying yourself the best projector that will efficiently serve its purpose. Is the projector solely for the boardroom in your workplace? Or for your home entertainment center? Do you intend to display text, images, movies, or all?

Depending on purpose of use, there are different types of projectors:

Home theatre projectors: These projectors are specifically made for home entertainment. Hence, they perform well in displaying images and videos. They also mostly come with built-in speakers or audio system and reduced fan noise.

Gaming projectors: As the name reveals, these projectors are created with gamers in mind. Want to immerse yourself deeply in your games? Look out for projectors that are labeled by the manufacturer(s) as “Gaming projector”. These projector models perform fantastically with videos, images, audio and most home theatre projectors qualify as Gaming projectors too.

Business and Presentation projectors: These projectors are usually the least expensive and with the least attractive outer body appearance. These projectors usually lack sophisticated features and entertainment apps like Netflix, Browser, Youtube, Built-in games, File Manager, or even an operating system.

2. Size and Portability

The size of a projector is another important factor to put into consideration before making that big money projector investment. Do you intend to move the projector around a lot? Or you want a model that can easily fit into your backpack when going to work? Then you should get a small sized projector. There are small sized projectors that can fit perfectly into your pant pocket; they are called Pico Projectors.

Projector Buying Guide
A Pico projector

On the other hand, if the projector will solely be used in your home’s living room, your personal room or office and won’t be moved around a lot, then you can opt for big sized projectors. Unlike Pico projectors, big projectors last longer and usually come with built-in cooling fans.

3. Brightness

Projector brightness is generally measured in “Lumens” and it is the light output coming from the projector bulb. While there are two categories of projector (White and Colour) brightness, White brightness is usually measured the most.

The higher the brightness rating (Lumen) of a projector, the better it displays images. But ideally, it all depends on the ambient property of the environment you intend using the projector.

In the home where ambient light is kept to a minimum  and can be easily controlled, him theatre projector with a minimum of 1500 lumens will give enough brightness level for proper viewing experience. For offices, auditoriums, classrooms, conference rooms, and well-lit environment generally, a projector with a minimum of 2500 lumens and more is recommended.

4. Resolution

The higher the resolution of projector, the better, cleaner, and crispier the images will be, and also, the more expensive the projector. However, depending on the intended use of the projector, you do not necessarily need a high-resolution projector.

For general office and business use, SVGA resolution (800 x 600 pixels) projectors are decent enough for projecting charts, graphs, text, images, and videos. They are less expensive.

Projectors with XGA (1024 x 768 pixels), WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels), and WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution are also perfect for use in the workplace.

For gaming or home entertainment, 720p (1280 x720 pixels) and 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) are perfect for movie and game projection.

5. Input options

“How do you plan to connect to the projector?” Is another question you need to answer before purchasing that projector. However, you should look out for projectors with lots of variable connectivity options like VGA or HDMI ports for connecting to computers, USB ports to project from storage devices or your smartphone, LAN port to connect to the internet, headphone jack, SD card ports and more.

Projector buying guide

You should also check out for wireless connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi, AirPlay (for MacBooks) etc.

Asides the above basic characteristics, you can look out for availability of additional features like accessories (wall/ceiling brackets, tripod stand, remote control); version of operating system; imaging technology (digital light processing (DLP), liquid-crystal display (LCD), liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS), and laser raster); 3D support and compatibility etc.

Real Devices vs Emulators/Simulators

Real Devices Vs Emualtors

Mobile testing is one of the main focuses for app developers. With more devices running new systems being released every year it is essential to test an app/game on all of them. These tests will display how an app runs on a device and if it renders incorrectly, it will need to be sent back to the coding room. Although, it’s not as prehistoric as having hundreds of devices at the ready. Today we use one tool one for testing our software/apps/games.

There are a few different types of tools we can use to cross-device test, emulators, simulators and then the real device. The issue with having multiple devices is that it is not cost effective at all. Many devices take space up and require constant maintenance and updating. So that leaves simulators and emulators.

Simulators and emulators are similar in the way they work. They both allow you to carry out virtual testing on a device that is different than the intended device. For example, if you are testing iOS10 on a Windows PC.

Simulators will not mimic the device but it will mimic the basic functions of the selected device. Whilst simulators are good, they do not provide a perfect representation of the real device. The plus side to simulators is that they are inexpensive and are easier to setup than emulators.

Emulators will provide a more accurate result in comparison to a simulator. Emulators test specific situations and frameworks. Emulators are cheaper to use than the real device and perform better than simulators so they are the most popular games. The most popular use of them are Pokemon Emulators.

Real Devices vs Emulators:

It may be difficult to purchase a mobile device and other device which you intend to test. So the simulator or emulator will be easier to get hold of. Although, you probably won’t be able to test all the scenarios of the real device on the emulator.

Emulators and simulators do not take into consideration the UI and UX parts of the original design. So you will see different colors of the device on the emulator to the real device.

Testing on mobile devices is very reliable although emulators and simulators makes it easier because it only needs a URL for it to work.

When you are testing some issues like how apps drain a batteries, the emulator or simulator will not be able to show you the battery of the device it is emulating.

Testing the performance of a mobile app/game is very important. When you test the real device it is very accurate, without the real device the emulator and simulator is not as accurate.

Disadvantages of Emulators/Simulators:

Both emulators and simulators are seemingly good alternatives of the real device. But, there are some issues that you might face whilst using them such as false rendering and setting them up.

Emulators are notoriously difficult to install on a device. So most people give up and just buy the real device. Another issue is that emulators and simulators will not be able to 100% replicate the real device, so you may see an incorrect version of the app.

Real devices are always better than an emulator/simulator. The real device will validate results positively in app testing. Or if you are trying to play an old game then it will be a more authentic experience.

Emulators are constantly advancing and in the upcoming years we may be able to see more accurate ones. Check out City Of Hype for tech news.

The incredible popularity of off-road hoverboards

With modernization taking place, things are changing at a rapid face and so should it be! Just wonder, if you are in the still 90s, would you be thinking of it. Perhaps it would sustain somewhere within your fictitious mind.

Well after 2010, things started happening. With every occurrence, technology has advanced its step and engineers came up with experiments concerning “hoverboards,” the first self-balancing scooter.

Making Rides Innovative:

Off-road hoverboards are gradually growing famous day by day since most teenagers, kids and adults love scootering around from one location to another. The top off-road hoverboards make self-balancing on a scooter ride much more fun.

They come in a wide range of sizes, dimensions and model specifications. The basic intention of it is to make your ride simply awesome so that you get to enjoy moving around in your locality or from one terrain to another.

These hoverboards also come with some unique features that boost your ride. These off-road hoverboards come with a highly powerful lithium-ion battery that helps to continue the ride without a lack of speed.

Top off-road Hoverboards Features:

The top off-road hoverboards come with innovative features; some of them include tamper proof anti-theft alarm in your mini pro balancing scooter.

This is an amazing feature that saves your scooter by notifying you with an alarm on your phone just as anybody attempts to move your scooter without your permission.

The app functions in the most outstanding way as it gives a choice to the users to adjust the color of the head lights and the tail lights. Also, once you end up your cruising, you may choose to switch off your mini-balancing tutorial.

You also get other features wherein you can change or adjust the speed of your vehicle so as to make sure that everything remains under your control.

You even get the scope to check your vehicle diagnostics and other related information about the same. It also helps the users to come across the firmware updates as well as enables troubleshooting the malware issues easily from the app without any issue.

The developers and engineers have been trying really well to modify and uplift the inner and outer software and the system of this ‘most wanted personal transport’ in the market.

This locomotive had undergone several critical tests and safety standard issues before it did successfully achieve the recognition as we see it at present. It comes with a nine but technology along with a knee bar.

No matter how hustle bustle your track is, the vehicle provides you the most soothing ride across the bumps, slopes and rocky surfaces of the terrain. Thus, from the next time you go for a ride, you need not worry about any kind of interruption that comes along the way with the off-road hoverboards!

Thus, I can say that the top off-road hoverboards are one of the best inventions till date, without any doubt, to make your ride on tracks easier and enjoyable. I just fell in love with it!

A game is a good alternative to introduce your children to something including an interesting activity. For example, you want to introduce the children to foods, kitchen, and cooking.

Playing several cooking games is a great trick to make them learn about ingredients, type of foods, and cooking process in the most fun way.

A specific portal such as g2k is a place where you can find hundreds of online games including the cooking games. Here, you can check the recommended cooking games for your children.

Let’s Get Cookin’

Let’s Get Cookin’ is a recommended cooking game for parents who want to introduce types of ingredients, kitchen utensils, and cooking process.

The players have to pick the ingredients stated in the recipe. Then, they have to process the ingredients such as cutting, fried, and many more.

The idea is to complete the task to prepare a meal for the guests. Interestingly, the game is presented in two different modes a single player mode and two players mode.

If you have a free time, you can choose two players mode and have fun with your beloved children. It is a simple game and fun to play whether for boys or girls especially if it seems that they want to know more about everything in the kitchen.

Big Chef

If your children want to be a chef, let them play a Big Chef. The mission of the game is to run a fast-food restaurant. The restaurant is supported by any kind of ingredients and cooking utensils.

Your job is to cook some delicious foods and serve it to the customers. The types of the foods are including pizza, hamburger, and many more based on the request from the customers. Big Chef is a suitable and fun game for your lovely children because it is easy to play.

They don’t have to use a complicated controller because they can play with a mouse and the left click. That’s it! Let your children play the game to boost their intention to be a professional chef when they grow up.

Ratatouille

Ratatouille is one of the popular animation movies and most children love to watch it. Now, children are able to play the game by visiting g2k.

This game is also an interesting to play, especially if you want to introduce your children with cooking ingredients. They don’t have to cook just like the games above. The players have to memorize specific objects and then choose it based on the instruction.

It is a simple game to play but worth it to play for the children who want to spend their free time at home.

Sue Chocolate Candy Maker

Indeed, most children love chocolate and candy. Instead of giving them the product, you can let them play the game. The suitable game which used chocolate and candy as the main theme is Sue Chocolate, Candy Maker.

This game is not only fun to play but also showing a moral message to the children. The story of the game is about Sue who wants to give something to her friend. Then, she decides to make sweet candies and chocolates. So, what do your children have to do in this game?

The player is trying to help Sue to prepare the sweet candies and chocolates. For example, the players have to complete a specific task such as making a milk chocolate or cracker, chocolate or strawberry cakes, and many more.

You can check the list of foods you have to complete on the feature. The challenging part is that you are not only helping Sue but you also have to make the candy and chocolate right away before the end of the time.

If you failed to complete the task, you can start over the game and try a little bit harder. It is really a fun game to play for sweet foods lovers!

Make a Burger

For children who love to eat a burger, you have to show them a cooking game entitled Make a Burger. Just like the title of the game, the main task of the player is to make a delicious burger.

Before doing it, the player has to see the menu first. This game is a good idea to introduce the children with the ingredients to prepare if they want to make a burger. For instance, they have to prepare the meatball, vegetable, cheese, and the burger.

Make a Burger is also an easy and fun game to play from g2k because the players just need to use a mouse and the right click.

Google Station: Free WiFi service launched in Nigeria

Google Station

Google sure do have a lot of services that are aimed at impacting lives across the world. One of such is the Google Station program; a service which Google runs in conjunction with local partners to provide WiFi hotspot across publics places in the where individuals can have free access to internet connection.

At the tech giant’s “Google for Nigeria” event, Google announced the entrance of the Google Station program into Africa, with Nigeria being the first state to enjoy the privilege. Aimed at solving the connectivity challenge facing the country, Google also intends to expand its reach in the region using the Google Station as entry point.

What is Google Station?

Google Station

Google started the Google Station Initiative in 2012 and has since launched in four countries (India, Thailand, Mexico, and Indonesia). The July 2018 launch make Nigeria the 5th beneficiary of the Google Free WiFi service.
As mentioned earlier, the model of the Google Station program is Google associating with a (local) partner and providing software and hardware contribution to actualize the “free WiFi for all” goal. Most of Google’s partners on a Google Station project usually include network operators, fiber providers, infrastructure companies, system integrators, large venues, organizations etc.

Google Station in Nigeria

To bring Free WiFi to cities in Nigeria, Google will be partnering with a Nigerian-based fiber network provider, 21st Century Technologies, to provide free WiFi access in 200 locations in 5 cities in the country by 2019.

Google Station

The Nigeria’s Google Station project will, however, kick off in Lagos first in well-populated and crowded public spots like malls, airports, parks, transport hubs, schools/universities etc. Presently, the Google Station’s free Wi-Fi hotspots are available at the Landmark Centre, The Palms Mall, Ikeja Mall, and Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA2) Domestic Airport Terminal.

Upon successful set-up in Lagos, the Google Station service will be expanded to other locations across five additional Nigerian cities— Port Harcourt, Abuja, Kaduna, Enugu, Ibadan.

How fast is the Google Station?

Google Station

Asides bringing free WiFi to throw country, Google prides the Google Station’s hotspots as “fast…and secure”. And since that’s what majority of internet users want out of an internet network, Google Station’s free WiFi speed of 30 megabits per second (Mbps) — compared to Nigeria’s 1.8Mbps internet speed in the above image— will definitely excite and attract many users.

What’s in it for Google?

Like they say “Nothing comes free…not even in Freetown”, the Google Station free WiFi Hotspot isn’t entirely “FREE”. And relax, you won’t be paying any money either. “Ads” is the price to pay.

Google Station

Google will monetize Google Station service through local advertisers. Interestingly, revenue from Ads placements will be shared with other technical partners. Google will be sticking some ads in the faces of users of the Google Station’s free WiFi through captive portal login pages.

To the curious cats, captive login pages doesn’t mean you’ll have to login with some details or whatever. Here’s a case scenario:

You connect to the wifi hotspot at a Google Station location (say at MMA2 Airport Terminal). You launch your web browser to visit your favorite tech news site (say NaijaTechGuide). Now instead of taking you straight to NaijaTechGuide’s homepage, you might be redirected to a page showing some sort of Ad or WiFi terms of usage. Now that’s a captive portal login page…and you might be redirected a number of times during usage.

However, it still is a fair price to pay for fast, secure, and FREE internet usage. WIN-WIN, yes?

What do you think about the Google Station free WiFi service? Is your city among the above listed beneficiary locations? Have you tried out the Google Station free WiFi? Tell us your experience in the comments. We’d love to know.

The older processor of the Surface Go all had fantastic aesthetic properties. The Surface Pro, for one, is a sleek and flexible innovation. The new Surface Go on the other is all the things that the Surface Pro is, but also brings portability and affordability on board.

Microsoft Surface Go

The Surface Go is a tablet that aims to rival Apple’s iPad. One of the many features that the Surface Go boasts of is its portability andand featherlight weight. With a dimension of 9.65″ x 6.90″ x 0.33″ (245 mm x 175 mm x 8.3 mm) and 1.15 lbs (approx. 522 grams) weight, the Surface Go is the perfect mobile workstation for individuals who love to work on the go, travellers, communters, and the average individual.

Microsoft Surface Go

When the Surface Pro was launched, it was accepted as an interesting innovation as a PC, but too bulky a tablet; the Surface Pro 12.3-inch display isn’t exactly suitable for one-hand operation. The new Surface Go, however, is like the everyday 10-inch tablet (but sleekier) and interestingly, the attachable keyboard accessory converts it to the perfect regular PC.

Microsoft Surface Go

On the left side, all the ports of the Surface Go are situated. The available ports include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and Surface Connect port.

The right side of the tablet PC is blank but servss as the attachment point for the Surface Pen. On the rear, there is a built-in kickstand which allows for adjustment of up to 165° with enough friction level. The built-in kickstand is one of the many feature that makes the Surface Go trump Apple’s iPad.

Accessories

Attachable Keyboard

Microsoft Surface Go

The attachable type cover keyboard is a Surface Go accessory that has to be purchased separately as it doesn’t come with the tablet PC. Depending on if the intend to use the Surface Go for casual and business or school purposes, the type cover keyboard is actually an important accessory which will definitely come in handy.

The Surface Go” type cover keyboard comes with a track pad, a feature iPads’ attachable keyboards lack.

Surface Pen

Microsoft Surface Go

The Surface Pen is a stylus pen for the Surface Go. It is also an optional accessory and it attaches magnetically to the left hand side of the Surface Go.

Surface Connect/ Surface Dock

The Surface Connect port is used to charge the Surface Go and also, used to connect the tablet to other devices (like 2K monitors and USB sticks) using the Surface Dock accessory.

Internal configuration

On the inside, the Surface Go will be powered by an dual core Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor. The device will be launched in different variants on the basis of storage. A model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage will be the basic model while there will be other models with double storage capacity (8GB RAM and 128GB SSD). There will also be a variant with up to 256GB SSD.

Microsoft also says that upon launch, only the Wi-Fi-only variant of the Surface Go will be available for purchase as the LTE version will come at a later date.

The Microsoft Surface Go will come out of the box with running the Windows 10 operating system in “S Mode”. This means unless users opt-out of the S mode, they will be able restricted to downloading apps from the Microsoft Store only. Opting out of the S mode is easy and comes at no charge.

Battery

While usage intensity and manner will vary significantly among users, Microsoft assures that the Surface Go’s battery can supply up to 9 hours of on-time.

Pricing

Microsoft Surface Go

The basic model of the Microsoft Surface Go will sell for $399 while other variants with bigger storage properties will cost more. “Eligible” teachers, students, military personnels, and parents can get the product at a discounted price of $379.05.
