On the rear, we have four cameras, a capacitive fingerprint sensor encompassed in a circle that resembles that of the Xiaomi Redmi K30.  You will also find the Redmui branding on the rear, which somehow indicates its Xiaomi Smartphone.

Upfront we have a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display, which has a drop notch that houses its front-facing camera. This display has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 and a screen density of 395 PPI.

Build quality came in as expected. You have got plastic on the rear, plastic on the frame, and gorilla glass 3 upfront.

The Cameras

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 offers a camera system that can be described as a watered-down version of what we saw on its more premium siblings.

Its rear camera department features a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera. This rear camera system is capable of videos capped at 1080p fps. It also offers HDR and Panorama for photos.

The front camera features an 8MP sensor which is also capable of shooting videos capped at 1080p @ 30fps. It also provides HDR mode for taking photos.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood of the Xiaomi, Redmi 9 is an Octa-core MediaTek G80 processor, a Mali-G52 MC2 graphics processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB / 64GB of internal storage and a non-removable 5020 mAh battery.

Careful observation reveals there was a drop in the processing power. It opts for the MediaTek G80 as opposed to the MediaTek G85 processor we saw on the Redmi Note 9.

On the software side, This Android phone runs the MIUI 12 interface on top of the Android 10.0 Operating system.

Reasons why this Problem has Persisted

There are three major reasons why this problem has persisted

1. Low purchasing power 
2. No laws and regulations are guiding these phone engineers
3. 90% of these phone engineers don’t have hands-on experience.

The Realme 6S design reminisces on the design of the Realme 6. It features the same design elements in the same position. Design and Display

Aesthetically, we have got the same setup coming from the less premium sibling. It features similar placements, similar build properties e.t.c. However, there are some elements that signal dichotomy.

The front panel on the Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G houses a 6.55 inch AMOLED display, which is slightly bigger than what we saw on its less premium sibling. It also houses a camera cut out with a single camera as opposed to the dual front cameras on the less premium Oppo Reno 4 5G.

The rear panel houses the same setup with triple cameras, a camera flash, and the Oppo branding which indicates its an Oppo smartphone.

Build properties comprise of Gorilla Glass 6 on the front, Aluminium on the frame and Gorilla Glass 6 on the rear.

The Cameras

The Camera department brings some upgrades to the table. Upgrades that are centered on the triple rear camera setup. This is geared towards improving photography and cinematography.

The 8MP ultrawide camera was stepped up to 12MP, while the 2MP depth camera was replaced with a 13MP ultrawide camera. However, the primary camera remained unchanged. It’s the same 48MP camera.

The front camera setup moved from its dual status to being in a single. This means the dedicated depth camera was removed. All that is left is the 32MP primary.

Design and Display

The story behind smartphones in the Blackview BV series has remained the same over the years. This series has grown to become notorious for having smartphones with tough chassis designed to withstand tough conditions.

The Blackview BV9900 Pro doesn’t deviate from the cause. It offers a chassis design and builds that gives the assurance that enthusiasts do not have to bother much about lethal damages

This smartphone features a military-grade certification paired with an IP68 rating, this means enthusiasts can bother less about water, dust, and damage accrued from drops from a height. However, enthusiasts are advised to exercise caution when conscious.

The rear of this smartphone is home to quad cameras, a camera flash Ultraviolet sensor, a heart rate sensor, and the Black View Logo, which indicates its a Blackview smartphone.

Upfront, we have a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display which features a teardrop notch housing a front-facing camera. This display has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2080 pixels. It uses a Gorilla Glass 5 layer for protection.

The Cameras

Having cheap Android smartphones with features we usually see on flagships usually require having one less premium feature, which is usually its cameras. However, Blackview was able to make a jump here, by featuring some big camera sensors.

Performance on the Blackview BV9900 Pro is fostered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P90 processor, IMG 9xm-hp8 970MHZ GPU 8GB of RAM, 128GB internal built-in storage and a non-removable 4380 mAh.

Despite being not being close to being a top-notch mid-range Android phone, this hardware combo is expected to get you through a lot of tasks with little or no lag.

On the software side, you have got the Blackview interface running on the Android 9 Pie operating system. Whether or not it will be receiving the Android 10 update wasn’t known as at the time this article was written.

The Blackview BV9900 Pro is currently available for purchase. It can be purchased from leading online stores like Aliexpress.

ASUS has taken the veils off two new super-thin laptops. The Zenbook 13 (UX325) and Zenbook 14 (UX425 / UM425), described by the company as the “World’s thinnest 13.3-inch and 14-inch laptops with full I/O ports”, were launched at an online event presented by Ivan Besskyi, ASUS East EMEA Regional Technical Marketing Manager – PC and Gaming, on June 22.

The laptops offer ultrathin and lightlight design and weighing just 1.07kg for the Zenbook 13 and 1.13 kg for the Zenbook 14 with both measuring 13.9 mm in minimum thickness.

Both Ultraportable laptops come in a gorgeous design with super-thin 2.5mm bezels, Edge to Edge keyboard, and ErgoLift Hinge

Some models will feature ASUS NumberPad 2.0 that offers a numeric keypad on the TouchPad.

You get a 13.3-inch IPS display on the Zenbook 13 and a 14-inch IPS display on the Zenbook 14. Both displays offer full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) with 4 sided NanoEdge display and amazing 90% screen to body ratio.

This is a 1W panel that offers efficient power consumption. While the IPS panel offers up to 450 nits brightness, you can get up to 22 hours battery life by reducing brightness to 33 to 35%.

The ASUS Zenbook 13 UX325 will offer upgraded 10th generation Intel Core processors (up to Intel Core i7-1065G7) with up to 32GB 3200MHz LPDDR4x RAM and up to 2TB PCIe 3.0 solid state drive.

Unlike the Zenbook 13, the Zenbook 14 offer the option of AMD processors. While the model with Intel processors called the Zenbook 14 UX425 offers exactly the same hardware configuration as the Zenbook 13 UX325, the AMD model (Zenbook 14 UM425) are a bit different.

The Zenbook 14 UM425 features AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor with up to 16GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe solid state drive.

The Intel models sport Intel Iris Plus Graphics or Intel UHD Graphics while the AMD models offer AMD Radeon Graphics. Support for Graphics cards are not provided for the new Zenbook laptops.

This is however not the only difference between the Intel and AMD models. One major difference you need to watch out for is that the Intel models offer two USB Type C ports that support Thunderbolt 3, while the two USB Type C ports on the AMD model don’t have support for Thunderbolt.

Both USB Type C ports are capable of fast charging and thanks to ASUS USB-C Easy Charge tech you can charge the laptop with just about any charger with USB Type C and Power Delivery.

The bundled charger can charge the built-in battery to up to 60% capacity in just 50 minutes and we are not talking about average battery here as the laptops feature a massive battery.

The new Zenbook 13 (UX325) and Zenbook 14 (UX425 / UM425) features a 4 cell, 67 Wh built-in battery that takes a lot of space inside, but delivers an impressive up to 22 hours battery life.

ASUS also claimed the 50 minutes charge to 60% will give you up to 13 hours battery life

Other ports available on all models include an HDMI port, a USB Gen 1 Type A port (USB 3.2), and a microSD slot.

All the new notebooks feature Wi-Fi 6 with Gig+ performance (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.0, HD camera with infrared sensor for Windows Hello.

One notable exclusion from the 2020 ASUS Zenbook Series is a headphone jack. According to Ivan, it was a compromise and there was literally no where to put it inside the chassis because of the compact design of the notebooks.

This is partly because of the massive battery and the priority given to keeping the USB Type A port and HDMI port. The Edge to Edge keyboard was also a contributing factor.

Another reason Ivan gave was that wireless Bluetooth headphones are now getting popular with consumers. However, ASUS will bundle a USB-C to 3.5mm jack dongle with the laptops.

Another result of the compact design and in part the massive battery of the ASUS Zenbook 13 (UX325) and ASUS Zenbook (UX425 / UM425) is that the memory (RAM) will not be upgradeable as there is no room for memory expansion slots. The RAM is soldered directly unto the board.

Intel models will come in 16GB RAM and 32GB RAM options, while the AMD models will come with 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM options. The built-in storage is however upgradeable.

The ASUS Zenbook 13 (UX325) and ASUS Zenbook (UX425 / UM425) will be available July / August 2020. While the UX325 and UX425 will come in Pine Grey, the UM425 will be available in Lilac Mist. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
