Best Small and Portable Generators

The uncertainty of power outage is almost one of the few inevitable things you should add on to on your list of “absolute constants in Nigeria”.

It’s no joke NEPA as we choose to call it over the official PHCN is a forced to be reckoned with. A force that with its power would make you sit outside in stark night counting the stars because you forgot to plug your smartphone when there was power.  You don’t want that do you?

So here’s a silver lining;

A Residential Backup Generator.

These kind of generators are made to restore power to your homes or place of work when power goes out. There are many kinds of residential backup generators which range from portable, inverter, whole-house, dual fuel and much more.

Benefits of Residential Generators

Perfect backup when power goes out

This is one of the most important benefits of a generator. As it help serve as a reliable backup when there is no power.

The lack thereof could lead to limited productivity and for the most part disconnects you to the world that is hopelessly reliable on the internet.

So much our lives and businesses are now built around the internet. In order not to miss on such opportunities it’s wise to invest in a generator that will cater to your needs.

They Provide Comfort

Generators, although depending on the output capacity can power all the appliances in a home. It can carry heavy equipment’s like sump pumps, water heater, Air conditioner and much more.

You will agree that these aforementioned appliances to some extent provide a comfortable living and without them, although you would survive but you’ll miss some comfort that comes with having them in house.

Generators ensure that your appliances are up and working at all times, so long they are running.

Different Sizes

Another merit of having a generator is they come in different shapes and sizes. Depending on your needs, a portable generator can power appliances in your home.

Whether you have a small or a big house, there’s a generator model out there that is perfectly suited to your needs.

Different Fuel Types

As generators come in different sizes, so are the fuel options. Generators can run on propane, gasoline, and diesel. Some generators are even hybrid and can utilize three fuels enabling you to have at least a fuel type that is accessible to you at all times.

Installation

To be honest, a generator looks complicated to operate on the surface but surprisingly it’s not. The installation doesn’t require a handy man.

In fact, if you can carefully read the manual that comes with the unit, you can easily install a generator and have it running in no time. Even the biggest generators known as whole house generators are relatively easy to install in homes.

However, if you can’t set it up yourself, the best option is to have a handyman install it for you.

Easy Maintenance

Maintaining a generator shouldn’t take much of your time neither your funds as well. The most important thing to look out for is to change air and oil filters and ensure moving parts are lubricated when they get a bit stiff.

Another important maintenance tip is to actually run the generator regularly. I know it’s counter intuitive but generators just like car batteries will die when they are not serviced in a long while. Also purchase a cover or build a shelter to protect your unit from harsh weather.

The 3 Ingredients That Make Nigerian Prince Scams Work

$

Playground for Scammers of Cryptocurrency

We know we should ignore spam emails that contain offers too good to be true. They usually go straight to our spam folders. However, widespread awareness of these scams has not made them go away. Scammers became more creative instead.

How It Works

Scams involving Nigerian princes have been around since the earliest days of the internet. In fact, they have become quite cliché. Also known as 419 scams, they are a variation of a type of scam that has been around for centuries.

Known as the Spanish prisoner swindle, it first emerged in the aftermath of the French Revolution. The scam involved sending handwritten letters soliciting help for a falsely imprisoned but non-existent noble.

The scam soon evolved into the more familiar Nigerian Prince variant, among others. Even though the scams seem to be a modern problem, it’s mostly associated with the early days of the internet.

In fact, the scam first went global as early as the 1980s. Scammers began to use conventional snail mail to send letters around the world that resemble the emails that we see today.

Despite being a joke to most of us, these scams are still incredibly effective. Despite widespread awareness, scammers are still able to con people as they have refined their methods over time.

There are three key ingredients that make the scam work: these ingredients are what lie at the heart of its success in the modern world.

Persistence

With so many people being aware of this particular scam, the perpetrators have become more selective in who they target. They used to rely on the simple law of averages.

If only up to 1% of people respond to the scam, let alone fall for it, then scammers still earn themselves a decent payday as long as their target audience is large enough.

But that’s not how things are done today. There are a variety of ways how to be secure online. One of them, Proxies was extensively covered by the Smartproxy blog.

It’s getting harder for scammers to get their emails in front of a large number of people. Automatic spam filtering and a more vigilant oversight of email services mean that many of their messages are intercepted and diverted into the spam void before they are even opened.

Instead, scammers now focus on specific targets that have been chosen for a reason. This reconnaissance work gives scammers the opportunity to assess the most effective route for the individual target that they are pursuing.

Social Engineering

Nowadays, most of the attacks that are reported as hacking are the result of sophisticated social engineering. Modern cybersecurity systems are incredibly resilient. They are all but impossible to breach unless hackers have significant resources available to them. It is much easier to hack people than it is to hack a computer.

Having gathered intelligence on their targets, scammers can then decide on the social engineering approach that is most likely to work.

They might pretend to be an employee of a legitimate business that the target uses and might be expecting an invoice from. Scammers can then simply send their own invoice that looks like the real one the target is expecting. For Nigerian Prince scams, they might pretend to be a wealthy distant relative.

In other cases, hoaxers will attach an infected file to an email that installs malware on the target computer as soon as it is opened. This malware can include keylogging software, which ultimately gives scammers access to the target’s bank accounts.

Psychological Manipulation

Some of the more sophisticated versions of 419 scams involve a deep level of psychological manipulation. This requires these scammers to build a rapport with their targets over a prolonged period of time.

Once the target has established a relationship with the scammer and believes they are someone worthy of trust, it is much easier to swindle them.

Some 419 scammers even make appearances on online dating services and wait for potential victims to come to them. People who use online dating services are often more susceptible to these types of attacks because they are there in order to establish a meaningful connection with potential dating partners.

Numerous studies show that once we have committed ourselves to a course of action in public, we are reluctant to change our minds, sometimes in spite of overwhelming evidence.

If they manage to convince their target to invest emotionally and/or financially in the scam, it is often easier to extract even more money from them.

Now that technological literacy is more widespread, the old methods of 419 scammers will no longer be effective. However, by utilizing their modern understanding of human psychology and scamming tactics, these same scammers have found success with age-old techniques.

Western Digital’s New NVMe SSDs and NVMe-oF Solutions Provide the Foundation for Next-Generation, Agile Data Infrastructures

Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC) today announced new solutions that provide the foundation for next-generation data infrastructures designed around Ultrastar NVMe™ SSDs and supercharged by NVMe-oF™.

Building upon the company’s innovative design and integration capabilities – from NAND Flash to storage platforms – the new dual-port, performance Ultrastar DC SN840 NVMe SSDs and in-house RapidFlex NVMe-oF controllers are standalone solutions that combine to create the new OpenFlex Data24 NVMe-oF Storage Platform, a new shared storage JBOF (Just a Bunch of Flash) enclosure that extends the value of NVMe to multiple hosts over a low-latency Ethernet fabric network.

These new solutions further expand Western Digital’s data center portfolio to help customers transition to higher efficiency NVMe SSDs and more advanced shared storage architectures to meet the evolving demands of performance-driven applications and workloads.

In today’s global digital economy, microseconds count. As hyperscale cloud and enterprise data centers constantly work to remove bottlenecks to ensure uncompromised performance and availability of essential applications, while also keeping pace with unprecedented data growth, customer adoption of NVMe and NVMe-oF solutions continues to accelerate.

Industry analyst firm IDC expects hyperscalers, OEMs and end-user IT organizations to continue to transition away from legacy SATA and SAS interfaces, with NVMe on track to reach more than 55 percent of total enterprise SSD units shipped in 2020 and grow at a 2018-2023 CAGR of 38 percent¹.

“The future of Flash is undoubtedly NVMe as it’s all about speed, efficiency, capacity and cost-effective scalability, and NVMe-oF takes it to the next level,”

said Jeff Janukowicz, research vice president at IDC.

“Many high-performance applications have quickly become mainstay drivers of key business functions and we can expect this to further expand NVMe in data centers for global enterprises. With Western Digital’s long history of NAND Flash innovation and an integrated portfolio of NVMe SSDs and new data fabrics solutions, the company is well positioned to help customers fully embrace NVMe and get the most out of their storage assets.”

Ultrastar DC SN840 Data Center NVMe SSD

Extending Western Digital’s leadership in dual-port architecture, the new performance Ultrastar DC SN840 Gen3.1 NVMe SSD is the company’s third-generation solution with a vertically integrated in-house NVMe controller, firmware and 96-layer 3D TLC NAND technology.

The new Ultrastar NVMe SSD enables enterprise customers to seamlessly transition from SATA and SAS to NVMe—delivering competitive performance of up to 780K/250K random read/write IOPS and capacities up to 15.36TB in a drop-in U.2 15mm form factor. Its comprehensive set of enterprise-class features includes 1 and 3 DW/D endurance levels, full power-loss protection and TCG encryption.

Future-ready, it is the ideal solution for a growing number of mission-critical applications that require superior read/write and mixed workload performance, low latency and dual-port high availability—everything from high-performance computing (HPC), cloud computing, SQL/NoSQL databases, virtualization (VMs/containers), AI/ML and data analytics.

“Being the leader in high performance storage for AI and big data, DDN needs to stay at the leading edge of storage technologies,” said Paul Bloch, president and co-founder of DDN. “We are fortunate to have an innovative partner like Western Digital to deliver NVMe-based all-flash solutions that maximize device performance so we can deliver application acceleration to our customers. We look forward to implementing the Ultrastar DC SN840 NVMe SSD in our solutions.”

OpenFlex Data24 NVMe-oF Storage Platform

While NVMe Flash-based storage provides enormous performance gains for DAS, SAN and NAS, traditional data center infrastructure can limit the full potential of NVMe SSDs, resulting in underutilization of valuable storage resources, inefficient data silos and costly operational expenses.

OpenFlex Data24 helps address these challenges by enabling the full bandwidth of Ultrastar NVMe SSDs to be shared by multiple hosts over a low-latency Ethernet fabric as if they were locally attached to the PCIe bus inside x86 servers.

This provides greater flexibility for data center operators to scale-up capacity and more efficiently utilize disaggregated Flash storage to achieve greater performance for the most demanding workloads.

Launching with up to 24 hot-swappable Ultrastar DC SN840 NVMe SSDs, OpenFlex Data24 provides shared storage capacity of up to 368TB in a compact 2U form factor, making it ideal for server storage expansion and scale-out software-defined storage (SDS) environments.

The holistic design also incorporates newly branded RapidFlex RDMA-enabled NVMe-oF controllers for unsurpassed network connectivity and extreme low power, allowing up to six hosts to be directly attached with 100Gb Ethernet without the need for an external switch.

RapidFlex controllers provide sub-500 nanosecond latency for projected platform performance topping 13M IOPS/70GB/s when adding up to six network adapters to the OpenFlex Data24.

Built for high availability and enterprise-class reliability, the OpenFlex Data24 can be attached as shared storage in high-performance infrastructure deployments or utilized as a disaggregated resource to compose virtual storage systems.

The platform is fully interoperable with the award-winning OpenFlex     F-series – the only open composable disaggregated infrastructure (CDI) solution in the world.

“Data infrastructure has never been as vital to the world’s economy as it is today,”

said Yusuf Jamal, senior vice president of Western Digital’s Devices and Platforms Business.

“As a leading provider of essential data infrastructure, our mission is to help enterprises architect next-generation data centers to support business-critical applications and bandwidth-hungry workloads at scale. Western Digital’s leadership in NAND Flash, capacity-enterprise HDDs and supporting technologies are being relied upon now more than ever. We’re fully committed to helping companies transition to NVMe and move to new composable architectures that can maximize the value of their data storage resources.”

Shipments for the Ultrastar DC SN840 NVMe SSD will begin next month and the OpenFlex Data24 NVMe-oF Storage Platform is scheduled to ship in the Fall with a five-year limited warranty. RapidFlex NVMe-oF controllers are available now.

Best Tips for TikTok Success

Want to be successful on TikTok? Well, it is all going to come down to those sweet views and likes. How do you get them? Well, while there is a little bit of luck involved in the process, there are a few things you can do to up the chance of getting views on your videos. These tips should help.

Watch the Pros

If you want to learn how to do something, then watch what the pros are doing. If you spot somebody who is wildly successful on TikTok, then you will want to start to dissect why they are popular.

Remember, success on TikTok is wildly different to success on other social media apps. People here need to be entertaining within mere seconds, and that isn’t as easy as you may think!

As you watch the pros, you may be able to see similarities in terms of their mannerisms, the sounds they use, the style of video they create. Copy them. It is a formula that works.

So, why wouldn’t you put in the effort to do that? Obviously, you can add your own creative flair to it, but if something isn’t broken, why fix it?

Stick to the Trends

While it is certainly possible that you could become TikTok famous in a small niche, if you want a massive number of likes on your videos, then you are going to need to look into what is currently trending.

Hop aboard these trending tags and niches. Create content that people will love (don’t forget to watch what the pros are doing).

It is worth noting that you should only be hopping on board trends if they interest you. You should never create content for the sake of creating content.

You stand no chance of being successful like that. People will see the lack of passion in your videos. This leads us neatly onto our next point.

Be Passionate

You must be passionate about the videos that you make. As you go through the pros of TikTok, you will notice one common thread among them.

The content creator seems to be genuinely happy to make content. Being passionate makes you much more enjoyable to watch. Being passionate also makes it simpler for you to generate ideas for all of the awesome content you are creating.

At the time of writing, some of the most popular tags on TikTok are related to dancing. This is great and all, but if you are really not in love with dancing at all, is that really how you want people to be finding you on the platform? We are going to say; no.

Make your Videos Discoverable

It is vital that you make it easy for your videos to be discovered. Thankfully, TikTok makes this nice and easy to set up. You just need to use tags. If you want, you can browse through some of the more popular tags before you create your content.

This way you will get a feel for the type of content people are consuming. Although, do bear in mind that it can be a touch more difficult to stand out on some of the more popular tags. You may want to niche yourself down a bit and build an audience that way.

Spend Time Creating your Content

You absolutely MUST spend a ton of time creating your content. Seriously. We can’t stress enough how important this is. If it has taken you just a couple of minutes to put together a video, then chances are that it isn’t going to be that good.

There is a reason why most of the pros are only pumping out videos once every couple of days. It is because they are often spending hours and hours finely crafting their content. It is an exhausting process, but it will pay off in sweet TikTok likes.

Is Buying TikTok Views OK?

Yes. This is assuming that you use a reputable service like HypeTik.com. Buying views on TikTok is one of the quickest paths to the front page of the app, or at least one of the more popular videos under your tags.

However, you still need to put effort into creating quality content. If you can’t do that, then it doesn’t matter how many likes you buy, you won’t make any progress with your account.

Differences Between IPv4 and IPv6

IPv4 and IPv6

Are you wondering about IP addresses and figuring out how to look up your IP address? There are many different reasons that you may have to look up your IP address but most of us don’t know how to.

Don’t worry because we have outlined the basic and most important facts you need to know about IP addresses as well as the difference between IPv4 and IPv6 address types below.

What is an IP Address?

IP, short for Internet Protocol, is the virtual address of your internet device (desktop, laptop, smartphone, etc) which is connected to the internet. The IP address is useful for connecting your device to other devices on the network, including the world wide web.

In simple terms, an IP address is the same as the return address on a letter in real life but is instead assigned to your computer when it is connected to the internet.

An IP address consists of a string of numbers and characters, which are separated by a “.”. An example of an IP address is – 605.576.12.903

Every device which is connected to the internet has a unique IP address assigned to it. This means that there are billions of IP addresses in use out there. The previous IP addresses were of the IPv4 (IP version 4) however the increasing demand for new and unique IP addresses has resulted in the introduction of the IPv6 (IP version 6). We will get to these later on.

Find Your IP Address:

It is quite easy to find the IP address of the device you are using, whether it is a desktop PC or a smartphone.

  • Desktop Computers :– To find the IP address of the desktop PC, you simply need to access the Command Prompt, type in “ipconfig” in it and hit Enter. This will show you the IP address of your desktop on the network.
  • Mac PC :– To find the IP address of your Mac PC, open your Terminal App, type “ipconfig” and hit Return.
  • Android Smartphones :– To check the IP address of your Android phones, open the Wi-Fi settings and tap on the “Network Name” option which promptly shows the IP address.
  • Apple Smartphones :– To find out the IP address of your iOS based smartphones, tap on the “I” icon besides the Network button on the screen.

Types of IP Addresses:

Normally, IP addresses are also classified into different types, such as:

Private IP Address:

Private IP address refers to the address of internet-enabled devices used at home or businesses which are connected to the internet.

In case there are several different devices connected to the internet through a single Internet Service Provider (ISP) then all these devices are assigned a unique private IP address.

These IP addresses are strictly assigned to those on the home or business network and cannot be used from outside the specified network.

As there are limited number of devices connected to the same network in home and business networks, it is not necessary that the IP address will be unique.

Public IP Address:

The main IP address of your home or business network, which connects you to the rest of the internet, is called the Public IP address.

This can be easily searched by opening “ShowMyIP” website on your browser which displays your device’s public IP address along with other relevant information.

Static & Dynamic IP Address:

Furthermore, the IP addresses are sub-divided into Static or Dynamic IP address

  • Static IP Address :– These are configured manually on the device to connect with the internet. Static IP addresses are not changed automatically.
  • Dynamic IP Address :– These are configured and assigned automatically to your device when you set up the internet router.

IPv4:

In IPv4, a 32-bit address system is used which allows storing as many as 4 billion addresses. Today, this version is known as the primary Internet Protocol and handles over 94% of total internet traffic.

Example of IPv4 address is – 214.886.435.978

Features of IPv4 address:

  • Uses connection-less protocol
  • Can create simple virtual communication layer over several devices
  • Currently used by millions of internet-enabled devices
  • Needs less memory in comparison and is easier to remember
  • Provides conferences and video libraries

IPv6:

The IPv6 system has become immensely useful to fulfill the growing demands for new IP addresses, which are not being sufficed with the earlier IPv4 version. The IPv6 uses 128-bit address space technique and can generate and accommodate as many as 340 undecillion unique IP addresses.

Example of IPv6 address is – 2004:0gr2:97e4:0000:0000:4i3a:9034:8556

Features of IPv6 address:

  • Stateless and Stateful configuration technology
  • Routing and addressing system is hierarchical
  • Perfect for neighboring node interaction
  • Quality of Service (QoS) support available

Difference between IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses:

Now that you have a basic understanding of IP address, their uses and the different types, let’s check out the difference between the IPv4 and IPv6 address types.

IP Address Size:

  • IPv4 is 32-bit IP address
  • IPv6 is 128-bit IP address

Addressing Method:

  • IPv4 is numeric address with binary bits separated by a dot (.)
  • IPv6 is alphanumeric whose binary buts are separated by a colon (:)

Number of Header Fields:

  • IPv4 has 12
  • IPv6 has 8

Length of Header Fields:

  • IPv4 has 20
  • IPv6 has 40

Checksum

  • IPv4 has Checksum fields
  • IPv6 does not have Checksum fields

Types of Addresses:

  • IPv4 supports Unicast, Broadcast and Multicast
  • IPv6 supports Unicast, Multicast and Anycast

Number of Classes:

  • IPv4 offers 5 classes, from Class A through Class E
  • IPv6 offers storing unlimited IP addresses

Configuration:

  • IPv4 requires configuration of newly installed systems
  • IPv6 has optional configuring for different functions

VLSM Support:

  • IPv4 supports Virtual Length Subnet Mask (VLSM)
  • IPv6 does not support VLSM

RIP (Routine Information Protocol):

  • IPv4 supports RIP through routed daemon
  • IPv6 does not support RIP but uses static routes

Security:

  • IPv4 is not security-centric
  • IPv6 uses Internet Protocol Security (IPSec)

Packet Size:

  • IPv4 requires 576 bytes packets (optional fragmentation)
  • IPv6 requires 1208 bytes packets (without fragmentation)

Local Subnet Group Management:

  • IPv4 has Internet Group Management Protocol (GMP)
  • IPv6 has Mutlicast Listener Discovery (MLD)

Although IPv4 and IPv6 are not compatible for communication with one another however they can exist together on the same network through Dual Stack technique.

SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0

It seems consumers can’t get enough storage these days on their devices. With tons of content to download online and loads of memories to document (now in super high resolution 4K), the built-in storage on our smartphones and other devices are struggling to keep-up.

Often times it comes down to making a rigorous and sometimes draining judgement call on which files to delete just so you can free-up some space on your device.

However, with the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 you may never delete a file except you want to.

It offers super-fast file transfer with speeds of up to 150MB/s, thanks to the native USB 3.0 support.

The device is versatile, offering dual ports; a microUSB port on one end suited for USB On the Go (OTG) enabled Android smartphones and a USB-Type A port for PCs and Mac computers.

However, to crown it all cost per GB of this devices looks quite cheap, making it a very competitive offering in the market.

You can buy the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 at a local store in capacities of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

We got our hands on the 128GB capacity of the flash drive and will be sharing our review here

Unboxing the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0

The USB flash drive comes in a cardboard pack with a transparent housing in the middle for the device. You cut the pack open to reveal the transparent housing with a polythene cover.

Once the top cover is gently removed you can now handle the flash drive.

The Design

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 comes in a very compact design. Holding this in my hands, I had to marvel at how far technology as evolved. Despite being small generally, the part of the device that houses the storage occupies an even smaller footprint.

SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 128GB

The USB flash drive comes in a dark transparent plastic frame with a dark grey centre core that houses the storage sandwiched between the two ports.

On one side you have the microUSB port that can plug into your OTG enabled Android phone and and on the other side a full-sized USB Type A port that connects to your Windows or Mac computer.

The centre core is not in a fixed position. It is mobile and glides on the outer frame. You can move it to one end to access the microUSB port.

Similarly, moving it to the opposite end will make the USB Type A port accessible.

On one of the side frames, there is an opening for a key ring that you can attach to your keychain or a lanyard that you can wear around your neck.

This addition is very thoughtful as the compact design means you can easily misplace the flash drive if you do not attach it to something.

The Performance

SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 can connect to both OTG-enabled android phones and Windows / Mac computer. The flash drive is compatible with computers running on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Mac OS X v10.7 and above.

Flash Drive Properties on Windows

Connecting it to a Windows computer and checking its properties shows about 114GB free storage space.

I copied a 3.04GB video from my computer to the flash drive in 2 minutes 47 seconds achieving a maximum transfer speed of about 22.2 MB/s.

I also tried the other way around i.e. copying the same 3.04GB file from the flash back to the computer. It was faster this time transferring in 1 minute, 24 seconds and recording a maximum speed of about 39.5 MB/s.

What about transferring files in smartphone?

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 supports OTG enabled android phones and tablets.

Since it comes with a microUSB port, I decided to first test it on the Lenovo K5 Play.

Lenovo K5 Play Flash Drive

Once I connected it, a notification appeared. Tapping the notification opens the USB storage where all files and folders in the flash drive are visible.

You can also just simply go to the File manager of your smartphone to access the USB drive.

I was able to transfer the 3.04GB video from the thumbnail drive to the smartphone in about 2 minutes, 9 seconds. Transferring the same file from the smartphone to the flash drive took about 3 minutes, 14 seconds.

I decided to compare transfer speeds using the newer Umidigi Power 3. However, because the smartphone comes with USB Type C, I needed a microUSB to USB Type C adapter.

Transferring the 3.04GB file from the flash drive to the smartphone took 1 minute, 25 seconds while the reverse transfer took 2 minutes, 40 seconds.

Connectng Flash Drive with microUSB to USB Type C dongle

The speed makes the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 a fast and reliable way to transfer files from one device to another.

While you do not need any software to connect the thumbnail drive to your smartphone, downloading and installing the SanDisk Memory Zone app from the Play Store will offer a seamless management of your phone storage and flash drive space.

The app will help you backup, transfer, and manage files and data in your phone’s built-in storage and flash drive.

Conclusion

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 offers a compact and versatile 2 in 1 design. Combining a microUSB port and a USB Type A port, means you can use the same device on your compatible smartphones and computers.

Thanks to the native USB 3.0 support, the flash drive offers super fast transfer speed making it a fast and reliable way to move files from one device the another.

However, there are a few things you need to pay attention to. First, the compact design makes it easy to misplace, so hook it up (using the opening provided) to a keychain or a lanyard you wear around your neck, to keep it safe.

Secondly, the microUSB port is very tall, probably to accommodate ports from many smartphones. This means that if the port on your phone is short like mine, the port will only go halfway, don’t try to force it beyond its length. Once it has gone its length you should be rest assured that it is properly connected.

Finally, if your android phone comes with USB Type C, do not forget to buy a microUSB to USB Type C dongle that will enable you connect the flash drive to it.

That said, the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 is a handy device to have around. You can use it to backup your files, as a media library for your movies, or for moving files across multiple devices.

Opt-in Email vs. Opt-out Email – Which is Better?

Elements of Successful Outreach Emails

Email marketing for lead generation must be a key part of the marketing strategy of an online business. The use of email marketing campaigns has transformed with trends.

Recent email marketing statistics show that:

  • The number of active email users is forecasted to reach 4.3 billion in 2023.
  • 293.6 billion emails were sent and received each day in 2019.
  • The average expected ROI is $42 for every $1 you spend on email marketing.

The escalating use of emails makes every business use it carefully. Offering value via email marketing must be a priority with every email.

You can adopt two different types of email marketing strategies

  • Opt-in
  • Opt-out

Organizations are willing to experiment with these two strategies to identify the best one for their organization. However, there are certain laws that you must be aware of to utilize these strategies.

In this article, we will compare Opt-in with Opt-out.

What is Opt-in Email Marketing?

Opt-in email marketing is the process where the readers voluntarily subscribe to your website, expressing their consent.

In this regard, you can be certain about the willingness and interest of the readers to receive more of the content you offer.

Opt-in email marketing can be implemented by using the following elements:

  • Checkboxes
  • Subscribe buttons
  • Submit option

These elements enforce a clear affirmative action from the user.

For instance, when a viewer arrives on your site to make a purchase, the visitor gets an option to subscribe to your website to get notifications about every update on their transaction (including confirmation emails and receipts). This option is given at the time of the account sign up as a checkbox below the signup form.

What is Opt-out Email Marketing?

Opt-out is an email marketing approach that gives subscribers an option to unsubscribe if they are disinterested in receiving your emails.

In an opt-out email marketing approach, the viewers are added to the subscriber’s list without their consent. They notice it only after receiving emails from your website.

To give an option to opt out from the list, the following elements may be used:

  • Unsubscribe button
  • Uncheck the box (when signing up)

Suppose, a user receives emails from a website that they may not have consented to get emails from.

This reaction can be because of various reasons

  • To avoid spammy emails
  • To stop receiving irrelevant content
  • Unaware of subscribing

No matter what the cause is, according to the CAN-SPAM Act, your email must include clearly visible options on how the viewers can opt-out of getting emails from you in the future.

Opt-in vs Opt-out

Opt-in can generate leads for your business when done right.

Let’s look at the advantages of using the opt-in email approach.

1. An effective marketing tactic

Email Marketing is a cost-efficient and highly-productive marketing tactic. It helps to directly target the interested audience, who can be converted to customers.

2. A good way to share valuable content

All businesses have to share valuable content. Creating engaging content makes readers get back to reading your content.

3. Double opt-in for collecting interested leads

A subscription confirmation link can be sent to confirm their user’s interest in opting in. This is the best approach to collect highly engaged leads.

With so many pros, there are several email opt-in strategies to increase the opt-in rate.

Addressing data privacy with GDPR

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is an important guideline for companies marketing to users in the European Union (EU).

The main objective of GDPR is to protect users from the misuse of their data. This makes it easier for EU citizens to file a complaint if they find their data being used without their consent.

Effect of GDPR on Email Marketing

As an avid user of email marketing campaigns, it is crucial to comply with GDPR laws. The significant aspect of these laws is the consent of the receiver. The controller has the right to protect their data.

Avoiding and neglecting the regulations under GDPR can leave you in serious trouble.

Thus, you have to be GDPR compliant by

  • Obtaining Consent
  • Providing the user’s data access
  • Enabling data deletion
  • Enabling data portability
  • Enforcing rigorous privacy protocols

Opt-out must be clearly tagged in your emails as it gives the choice to the readers in opting out at any moment. Encourage feedback from people to know the reasons behind them unsubscribing. Being spammy will make you lose more subscribers.

The key is to give people the option to opt-in and opt-out at any given point, with consent

While executing opt-in or opt-out strategy according to your preferences, it’s recommended to be aware of the regulations, laws, and customer’s interests.

Opt-in email marketing is ideal as it precisely highlights the readiness of the people opting in.

However, in case they change their minds, people should be free to opt-out from receiving your emails.

Top Tips for Picking the Best Electric Skateboards

Electric Skateboard

Whether it’s your first electric skateboard or your tenth, shopping around for the right device is never easy. If you’re on the outside looking in, it might seem that buying a board is all about finding the fastest and longest range device within your price range. But in reality, a number of factors contribute to the quality of a board.

Buying an electric skateboard is almost always a big purchasing decision. When you might be dropping over $1,000 on an e-board, you want to pay attention to much more than just the price tag and the top performance numbers.

It’s tough to make a truly comprehensive list of all the top tips for picking the best electric skateboard. Purchasing decisions are highly personal and individualized. The performance aspects of a board that matter to our writers may be quite different than the things you care about in a skateboard. That being said, today’s guide includes some of the most commonly considered tips for picking the best device.

What’s your Budget?

Even if you have thousands of dollars to drop on a new e-board, budget should still be a concern. First, you never want to overpay for your device. You should closely compare the price of a board with similar models to avoid being ripped off.

Additionally, saving money on an expensive skateboard can free your wallet up to purchase accessories that could improve the quality of your ride. Safety gear, extended range batteries, fast chargers, and other add-ons can really help out as you use a new skateboard.

For skateboarders with a more modest budget, the benefits of understanding cost and value are even more clear. Luckily, not all boards truly cost an arm and a leg. Plenty of budget skateboards offer solid performance at a low price.

Reading up on popular e-sk8 blogs can help you find some of the best deals and budget skateboards in the industry.

Deals and Discounts

There are several ways to get a discount or maximize your savings on the board you’re looking to buy. As a general rule of thumb, you’ll get the most bang for your buck by shopping online. Websites use discounts to entice shoppers. By contrast, buying from brick-and-mortar shops will often lead to markups in price.

If you’re able to wait until Cyber Monday or Black Friday, most e-skateboard companies will offer substantial discounts and deals.

You might even be able to research about past Black Fridays within the e-skating industry to get the scoop on the companies offering the biggest discounts and deals.

Performance Specs

Speed and Braking

The top speed of a board should be clearly listed on its device webpage. Most of a skateboard’s speed will come from the power and type of its motors.

If you’re looking for maximum speed and power, then high-torque belt drive system motors are generally considered the gold standard. But hub motors are quieter and increasingly popular, so more and more models using hub systems are now able to hit impressive top speeds.

We consider braking capabilities to be clearly linked to top speed, at least where safety is concerned. It’s always important to have a solid set of brakes. But when you’re riding along on a device that can hit truly hair-raising speeds, the last thing you want is to have a set of brakes that can’t get you down to zero mph quickly enough.

Information on a board’s braking system is a bit more difficult to find than its top speed. If you can’t find braking stats on the product’s website, look around for reviews on YouTube or Reddit to fill in the gaps in your knowledge.

Range

The range of a device is usually reducible to the size or power of its battery. A bigger battery will drive up the cost of a device, and some extended range batteries can add a hundred dollars or more to the overall price.

For some riders, this will be worth it. For some, it won’t. Where you fall on this important budgeting issue comes down to how you plan to use your skateboard.

If you’re a commuter or you plan to ride for extended periods of time, range is important and the size of your battery should be an essential consideration.

Cervers, tricksters, and high speed skaters are much less likely to really need a skateboard with an extended range. In most cases, range shouldn’t be a huge dealbreaker.

You can buy multiple batteries, an extended range battery, or a fast charger to offset an initially insufficient battery range.

Wheels

Though wheels might seem like more of an accessory than a performance spec, your device’s wheel type is essential to how it will function on the open road.

Larger wheels, and especially large rubber or pneumatic wheels, are the best for off-roading or riding on shaky/rough terrain. These wheels are often found on long-range or off-road electric skateboards.

If you plan on exploring a bit or shifting between terrains often, consider an all-terrain device. All-terrain skateboards will come equipped with belt drive systems. Hub motors do not usually allow riders to switch between different kinds of wheels. But with a solid belt drive system, some skateboards might even come packaged with multiple types of wheels.

Research and Comparison Shopping

All the information in the world can’t compare to a direct review from a skateboarder. Performance specs like top speed, maximum range, and braking curve are important pieces of information. But these specs alone don’t paint the full picture of what it’s like to carve or ride with a given device.

With this in mind, reading up on personal reviews from e-boarders should be your go-to when it comes to product research and comparison shopping.

The great thing about the electric skateboarding community is how many resources exist to help new and experienced riders alike find the ideal device. When you’re shopping and a skateboard catches your eye, it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll quickly find a detailed review article or video from a skateboarder who has personally ridden that model.

Compare Prices

Final Thoughts

With the tight knit community of e-skaters and the ever-expanding arsenal of boards on the market, it’s never been easier to find the perfect board, regardless of your needs.

Defining your budget, considering your performance preferences, and reading extensively online should be your biggest tools as you search for the best electric skateboard.
